Durham University offers the Business Administration (Online) programme.
Residential modules consist of four days of rigorous lecture-based study conducted by the module leader and supported by a course textbook and virtual learning environment access to lecture materials.
The MBA
Distance learning modules are taught using specifically written and recorded materials created under the
supervision of the module leader; students also have access to a tutor during each session. The tutor’s duty is to give help at a distance (usually via email, but also via phone or group discussion boards as needed) by providing comments on formative tasks and being accessible for consultation and guidance. The module leader(s) in charge of monitoring module content, structure, and delivery supervise tutor support and feedback to students.
Students who choose either the taught or distant learning pathways benefit from a virtual classroom experience in the form of live webinar sessions delivered by the module leader or tutor. This gives smaller groups of students the chance to discuss and debate problems based on information obtained via lectures and individual study outside of the program’s official contact hours.
Lectures and learning resources, in either delivery option, give important knowledge on a certain topic and indicate significant topics for discussion and debate within contemporary managerial thought. Students are also assisted in preparing their dissertations through the study of research techniques and interaction with a designated supervisor. The supervisor’s duty is to give direction in the development of research techniques, advise in its analysis and presentation, and to help enlighten the academic research process.
