Cardiff University’s MSc in Building Environmental Design is delivered in two phases. Stage one (two-thirds) is made up of 120-credit taught and mission modules. The dissertation is the final third of the paper (stage 2).
You will take some Stage one taught modules in year one, the remaining Stage one taught modules in year two, and Stage one project modules and Stage two dissertation in the third year as a part-time student.
Before beginning your dissertation, you can complete six taught and two project modules in Stage 1. (stage two). Each module will take a particular approach to environmental design, concentrating on basic subjects such as heating, illumination, and sustainability.
The course will discuss best practises in various climates around the world during the course. We’ll look at:
Current issues confronting environmental designers, as well as how climate change can affect the profession.
Environmental standards – their prediction, measurement, and legislation.
Ways to achieve high environmental efficiency levels, including consumer convenience and fitness, by using building fabric and mechanical resources appropriately.
Broader issues with regard to sustainability that environmental designers should be aware of in order to practice in a sustainable way.
This course’s taught modules include an introduction to urban architecture and architectural science in the light of sustainable growth and building environmental efficiency.
