Course Details
Lancaster University’s Master’s programme in Corpus Linguistics is housed in a department of Linguistics that is ranked 15th in the QS World Rankings for 2021.
Lancaster University’s goal is to provide you with the skills necessary to analyse huge volumes of linguistic data (corpora) using cutting-edge computational technologies. Additionally, you will learn about the English language’s structure and the diverse uses of corpus linguistic approaches for the analysis of English and other languages.
This comprises discourse analysis (newspapers, business reports, social media, and so on), sociolinguistic study of spoken language, and corpus-based pedagogy (Data Driven Learning, English for Academic Purposes, teaching materials development etc.).
Lancaster University is a world leader in corpus linguistics, having a specialised corpus research centre – The ESRC Centre for Corpus Approaches to Social Science, CASS. We create corpora like as the 2014 British National Corpus and the Trinity Lancaster Corpus, as well as unique corpus tools such as #LancsBox, Lancaster Stats Tools online, and CQPweb. Lancaster University received the Queen’s Anniversary Prize in 2015 for their pioneering corpus linguistics research.
