General Assembly Online Bootcamp Learning Experience

GA Online Bootcamps are built around live sessions. Online learning at General Assembly looks like remote working with a mixture of synchronous and asynchronous activities. Online sessions often include a mixture of the following activities.

Bootcamp Time Commitments

General Assembly offers full-time and part-time courses. Their bootcamps are intensive full-time immersive programmes made of of live sessions and group and individual working.

Bootcamps- 40 Hours a Week

The exact schedule varies for each individual course and the above numbers should be used to broadly understand the time commitments required.

Short Courses

GA short courses are flexible courses designed for individuals to study while working full-time. They are more advanced than the GA boot camps and are for professionals working in tech or tech-related roles.
GA short courses typically last ten weeks part-time, with live sessions in the evenings and weekends.

GA Short Courses are designed for those already working and taught with flexible evening and weekend schedules for the live sessions.

Short Courses 4 Hours a Week

Workshops

General Assembly also offer one-day workshops that provide a practice session on the basics of the topic. They also offer shorter workshops and taster sessions that are free to join.

General Assembly Teachers

All GA instructors have professional backgrounds and up-to-date experience using industry standard tools and practices.
This means that student are leaning, how to apply theory and best practice based on experience from real world work environments. Such as understanding how demands and project’s can change through a lifecycle as well as the pressures and constraints of delivering projects on time with the resources available.

General Assembly Admissions Process and Entry requirements

Bootcamps

When applying for a GA Bootcamp all applicants are asked to complete an admissions assessment and interview to make sure that they will be able to cope with the course.

1) Complete the online application;
(2) A phone interview with the Admissions Producer in charge of the course;
(3) Pre-admit assignment;
(4) Post Assignment Interview.

While Bootcamps are for beginners, with no experience necessary, applicants must still be able to cope with the demands of the course. GA use the phone interviews and testing to filter out and make sure all applicants who progress on to the course are not being set up to fail.

Short Courses

For GA Short Courses applicants must:

1) Complete the online application;
(2) A phone interview with the Admissions Producer in charge of the course;
(3) Pre-admit assignment (dependent on course)
(4) Final interview (dependent on course)
GA short courses are designed for professionals working in tech or tech-related roles.
